Biography
Joshua DeWall was born and raised in the small town of Galena, IL. From a young age, Joshua was attracted to the medium of glass; upon graduation from high school, it became his lifelong commitment. He received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Southern Illinois University and is a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) candidate from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.
He has worked nationwide as a glass gaffer, designer, assistant, instructor, and artist at institutions such as: the Pittsburgh Glass Center; the Rochester Institute of Technology; Snow Farm, Williamsburg, MA; Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina; and the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio in Norfolk, VA.
Joshua has received numerous awards including a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America; Artist Residency at The Works in Newark, OH; publicized in the New Glass Review; and a scholarship to Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. Currently, he is a staff instructor at the Chrysler Museum of Art Glass Studio.
This winter Joshua traveled to Tucson, AZ and was featured in an artist residency at the Sonoran Glass Academy. Recently he participated in an exhibition, Teacup 7, at the Morgan Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA, and also exhibited in Grey Matter, at the Suffolk Cultural Art Center in Suffolk, VA.
He is currently exhibiting in Craft Art Western, New York Art Exhibition 2013, at the Burchfield Penny in Buffalo, NY.
